Ansel Herz (recorded Jan 18, 2010) - independent journalist and CKUT correspondence joins us from Port-au-Prince to denounce the "disaster porn" that has characterized mainstream media coverage of last week's earthquake, and to share the remarkable and under-reported story of "Haitians helping Haitians" in day-to-day survival and rescue efforts in the wake of this recent catastrophe. Ansel was also the first foreign journalist to visit Haiti's National Jail following the earthquake, where he reports Haitian police fired live rounds at inmates streaming out of the overcrowded and damaged facility.
