The Famine in Somalia

Stolen Food aid and Neo-Colonialism

by Scott Price

We have seen horrible images of the famine in Somalia. Sadly It is hard to discern the causes of the famine through the din of the media. How did this situation arise? Who profits? What are the solutions?

Scott Price first talks with Katharine Houreld who is a journalist working for the associated press based in Nairobi. Katharine has done great reporting on stolen food aid in Somalia. Scott also talks with Firoze Manji senior editor in chief of Pambazuka news, about the wider historical and political context of the famine.
