Pan Am & Parapan Am Games Medals unveiled | Erin Bond, CHSR 97.9 FM in Fredericton, NB

The 2015 competition medals for the Pan Am & Parapan Am games were unveiled on March 3 in Toronto. Erin Bond brings us this report about the water theme of the Pan Am medals, with a specially prepared statement by Métis artist Christi Belcourt and an interview with activist Sakura Saunders, who wrote an article about how the creation of these metals has been detrimentally impacting water supplies in Indigenous communities. Tune in to CHSRfm.ca to hear an extended version with an interview with Mining Morality, a group that is doing a documentary about the Pueblo Viejo Mine in the Dominican Republic.

Gabrielle Fayant wins Indspire Award for her grassroots activism work | Michele Bourque, CKCU 93.1 FM in Ottawa, ON

Michelle Bourque interviews Gabrielle Fayant, the recipient of a national award that recognizes the achievements of Indigenous people in a wide range of disciplines. Gabrielle is, among other things, the co-founder of Assembly of Seven Generations (A7G), a youth-led organization that inspires culture and leadership among Indigenous people.

CKUW in Winnipeg reports on the passage of an omnibus Bill that the National Farmers union believes will benefit major seed companies like Monsanto at the expense of small producers.
