Jeppe on a Friday is a 2013 South African documentary film about gentrification in Jeppestown, a low-income district in Johannesburg in the midst of re-development. This story examines the collaborative process used by Canadian filmmaker Shannon Walsh in cinema verité and how the film is helping build a community of documentary filmmakers in South Africa.

The U.K.’s Guardian newspaper called Jeppe on a Friday one of the African films to look out for in 2013.

Adam Bemma is a journalist and human rights radio/media trainer based in Arusha, Tanzania.
