This song is about coming to understand your power. It's about understanding that many of the things our consumer culture would have us believe advances a new world order, like music, for one example, will not change the world for most people. It may change how the world is perceived by some people, but not much more. Indeed, music often legitimizes oppressive structures. This song is about developing the emotional discipline not to delude ourselves about that. The great news is that we can still change the present world order, just not in the ways we thought we could.
