Thinking about colonialism in Inner City Winnipeg

This interview is a part of a research work I’m undertaking to see how non indigenous people understand and engage in decolonizing work. View the blog, and all interviews at http://imasettler.blogspot.ca/.

Topics include:

How colonialism fits into a social justice pie. The interconnectedness of colonialism, imperialism, religious and cultural dominance. Genocide of Arawaks in Jamaica; Christianity being taken as a given in Jamaica despite it being a product of colonialism, despite the eternal resistance of the Maroons. What we take for granted in Jamaica and Canada. Colonialism is difficult to talk about and can be isolating. We aren't always on the same page about what it means. Plus, people hate talking about anything to do with race. This denial frames the challenge.
