Racism in local media, as well as some charter issues.

Addressing the recent articles in the Chilliwack Times (March 12 and 16) regarding the Popkum motorcycle park, the view from the Times seems very one sided, favoring Larry Jordan's case and trying to back up the average Caucasians preconception of First nations people. As a story being relayed to the public, I think that both sides of the story should be known and reported on to avoid prejudice in the public eye. However, even if both parties were equally represented, the fact remains that Mr. Jordan's rights are being violated. Section 8 of our charter of rights and freedoms states that everyone has the right to be secure against unreasonable search or seizure, and the Popkum band is violating Mr. Jordan's rights by holding his travel trailer and two containers on the property. Now on the flipside, section 25 of the charter states that First nations people's rights cannot be violated by the charter. But in reality, if the Popkum band removes Mr. Jordan for violating the lease agreement, should they not remove his personal belongings as well?
