TEEN READ WEEK!! October 15 - 19
 
Monday, October 15th: 
Teen Read Week Kickoff Party at the Mackenzie Library. Teens between the ages of 12 and 18 have the opportunity of having their fines waived in celebration of Teen Read week. Teens who take out a book during teen Read Week they will be given a ballot for a chance to win a Kobo Vox e-Reader!
 
Tuesday, October 16th:
The Scare Circle @ the Valley East Library. Teens! Come join us for a ghastly good time as we exchange terrifying stories over spooky sweets. Allow your imagination to stretch as you hear tales that are too eerie to be real, or are they? Urban legends play a rich part of our storytelling history and we are happy to festively incorporate them into this year’s teen read week. Event starts at 7:00 and will last an hour.
 
Thursday, October 18th:                                                                                               
Walking Dead Project Runway @ the South Branch. Teens have an hour to get themselves zombied up before walking down a runway in the library and standing before the judges. Each zombie contestant need to have an infection story, which ranged from a motorcycle crash in zombie territory to a zombie homeless man asking for spare change and spare limbs. The event will be from 6:00 to 7:30. Prizes will be given out for best zombie!
 
Friday, October 19th:                                                                                                          
Flick it! Movies for Teens @ Kinsmen Hall in Lively. Teens come and join us at the Kinsmen Hall to watch The Amazing Spider-Man on the big screen. A new chapter in the Spider-Man legacy is revealed in this amazing blockbuster hit! Popcorn and refreshments will be available.
 
Saturday, October 20th:                                                                                                    
Pokémon Tournament @ Dowling Branch.  Do you want to be a Pokémon master? Well you’re in luck! The GSPL is hosting the Pokémon Library League Tournament 2012! Participants will go head-to-head using their DS, DSI or 3ds system. Come and tests your skills against other Pokémon trainers. Bring your system and a copy of your Pokémon White or Black game and link up against other contenders. Tournament winners will get a Pokémon prize!

 
Children:
 
- The Library will be presenting Winnie The Pooh (2011) at this year's Free Family Fun Day at Tom Davies Square on Saturday, October 13 at 2 pm in celebration of the Week of the Child. The movie, along with many family activities happening that day starting at 10 am, is free and all are welcome to attend. The movie will be shown in Council Chambers. The Library will also be donating books to a Children's Book Exchange taking place at the event as well.
