much celebration and popping of champagne

Context by Hillary:

We operate as a not-for-profit but needed to clarify our status so it is clear legally for tax purposes and for the purpose of getting grants. There are specific things we had to say in order for there to be no question legally. We had the help of a great lawyer in Halifax, Chris Weisenburger, to create the resolution & adjust the articles of incorporation.

Tim read the special resolution.

Adjournment:

Geordie moved, Kawina seconded adjournment.
Passed.

*Discussion:

Media Co-op contributors who have not contributed to the Dominion (website or paper) are not, according to the co-operative bylaws, contributor members of the co-operative and therefore neither have a vote nor count toward quorum. We need to discuss changing this and bring an amendment to the AGM.

Currently, editors work regularly (day-to-day, long-term) for the Dominion. Contributors have contributed at least twice to the Dominion, once within the past year. Readers are sustainers, subscribers, or those who have paid the annual $15 membership fee.
