Toronto Premiere of "Huicholes" film

Join us for the Toronto premiere of "Huicholes: the Last Peyote Guardians", with special guests director Hernán Vilchez and marakate (shamans) Enrique Ramirez and Jose Luis "Katira" Ramirez, two of the film's protagonists. This screening is part of a North American wide film tour.

The film tells the story of the Wixárika people and their struggle against the Mexican government and Canadian mining companies to preserve Wirikuta, their most sacred territory and the land where the peyote grows.

The night will begin with an opening performance by the spectacular Aztec Dance Group of Toronto, and the screening will be followed by Q&A.

This screening is a fundraiser with all proceeds going to the cost of the tour and to Wixárika community projects.

Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door (no one turned away).
Advance tickets available at http://huicholestoronto.brownpapertickets.com/
