Those who are reading the CBC's coverage of the High River emergency camp will be impressed at how much has been done to make flood evacuees feel at home, including a cafe where patrons can come any time and a grill that's open until midnight. They have four recreation halls, four parks, a soccer field and a dog park.
Not far away, a friend of mine on Siksika First Nation describes a prison colony where smoking and pets aren't allowed, with a private security company keeping a tight reign on who comes and goes, enforcing a tight 10 pm curfew and a dress code against women from wearing shorts or low cut tops.
They have a choice between agreeing with these rules or getting no help at all.
It's that blatant.
