CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: Seeking independent documentaries that explore the intersection of spirituality and social justice

Cinema Politica is on the cutting edge of the cinematic zeitgeist, and once again is tapping into the heart of the times, by showcasing the power of connecting spirit with action with their new project “Divine Interventions.” ~ Velcrow Ripper, Director of Occupy Love

Montreal, December 11, 2012 - Cinema Politica is currently seeking submissions of independent Canadian works for a special screening project called Divine Interventions: Documentary, Spirituality and Social Justice. The early submission deadline is January 15, 2013. Led by Cinema Politica, the project is a partnership with the Documentary Organization of Canada (DOC) and the Inspirit Foundation.

About Divine Interventions: Documentary, Spirituality and Social Justice:

Divine Interventions: Documentary, Spirituality and Social Justice explores the role spirituality, religion and secularism play in fostering or inhibiting a plurality of perspectives, understanding across cultural, religious, and ethnic borders, and participation in social causes. This screening initiative starts in inclusive spaces where audiences, artists and activists interrogate the intersection of spirituality and social justice, and subsequently moves on to a sustained online conversation with the aim of fostering engaged communities across geographic barriers.

The project will consist of 30-40 documentary screenings followed by panel discussions and open forum dialogues held at Cinema Politica locals, on campuses across Canada in the spring of 2013.

We are looking for short, medium and feature-length experimental and narrative documentaries that explore the intersection of spirituality and social justice.
