(Flamborough, ON) Today at 3pm, activists at the ongoing occupation of the Enbridge Westover North Pumping Station will be holding a concert on the site. Musicians from Hamilton, London and other cities will be coming to the site on the Beverly Swamp in Flamborough to perform and support the demand that the Enbridge Line 9 Pipeline not be converted to ship dirty tar sands bitumen eastward from Alberta through southern Ontario.
On Thursday June 20, local activists from Hamilton, along with allies from communities across southern ontario that are traversed by the Enbridge Line 9 pipeline, occupied the pumping station and blockaded the site. "We plan to hold this site and stop construction on the Line 9 reversal project until Enbridge cancels the project," said Trish Mills, an activist from Toronto who has been on site since Thursday.
Today's concert is just the first of many public event that the activists plan to hold on the site over the coming days and weeks. People who support the efforts to stop tar sands bitumen from being pumped out of Alberta are invited to attend the concert and to stay and camp at the site.

While Enbridge has been telling people that they can somehow make it safe to pump the world's dirtiest oil through almost 40 year old pipeline, we know that it is not a question of if there will be a spill, but when, and we feel a responsibility to do everything we can to stop a wrecklessly irresponsible, greedy and inevitably environmentally destructive project," Mills said.
