The Media Co-op is hiring a Publisher!

Media Co-op is looking for an energetic, independent person to join our editorial collective as a publisher. You will work with the rest of the editorial collective, spread out across the country, to create the best in radical, independent media for the Media Co-op network, and our flagship magazine, The Dominion.

In your role as publisher, you will oversee the administration and overall direction of the co-op, serve as financial co-ordinator (working closely with our bookkeeper) and carry out various design and editorial tasks. You will work with our membership co-ordinator on fundraising activities, including grant writing

Skills required:
-Highly organized and able to meet ongoing deadlines
-Bilingual (English/French)
-Strong knowledge of desktop publishing software, including InDesign and Photoshop
-Knowledge of Open Office, MS Office and Google Docs
-Self-motivated and able to work independently with a team spread across the country
-Strong knowledge of web-publishing and social media; experience with Drupal a plus
-Strong editing and writing skills, preferably in the field of journalism, are an asset but not required

Experience required
-Experience in social justice and community-based movements
-Experience working with budgets, financial forecasting and non-profit administration
-Experience in journalism or a journalism-related field (asset but not required)

Salary: 10hrs/week at $11.42/hour.

This is a virtual position. You must have access to your own computer and reliable internet connection. Preference is for someone based in Montreal, but we are willing to consider strong candidates in other locations
