*This refers to Justin Trudeau and Michael Wernick, who was until recently one of the most powerful civil servants in Canada, serving as Clerk of the Privy Council of Canada from 2016 to 2019, and before that was deputy minister for the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development from 2006 to 2014. Wernick was involved during that long period in developing and implementing extinguishment of Indigenous rights policies.
