Recent stories, even ones that have been critical of Israel, continually refer to a war or conflict between Hamas and Israel. 

Over a thousand dead Palestinians, mostly civillians, and less than 50 Israelis, mostly military, is not a war. 

Almost all recent CBC News stories about the Israeli bombing of Palestinians begin with the title "Gaza Conflict", other examples include The Gaurdian's headline for July 26, "Israel's Fears Are Real, But This Gaza War Is Self Defeating." , ABC News "Gaza War Rages On Despiste Hamas, Israel Peace Pledges.", and the Huffington Posts headline for July 18 "Tories Release Pro-Israel Ad Amid War In Gaza, But They Don't Want Everyone To See It." .

This one sided coverage comes even as the United Nations is investigating Israel's bombing of civillian and even UN targets as violations of international humanitarian and human rights laws.
