After two tries Bruce Hyer was first elected as a New Democrat MP in 2008 for Thunder Bay Superior-North. In 2011 Hyer was disciplined by the party for voting with the Conservative government to scrap the long-gun registry. In this 12-minute profile Hyer unpacks some of his independent thinking and walks us through a day of an independent parliamentarian.
