Saskatchewan Joins Alberta In The 'Civil War' Over Kinder Morgan Pipeline

Former Environment Minister Scott Moe has always been a vocal oil industry supporter, so it was little surprise to see Saskatchewan's new Premier supporting the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain Pipeline. What was surprising was the lengths he has recently chosen to go for a project that doesn't even pass through the province, recently announcing restrictions of energy exports to BC in line with Alberta's strategy, which many including Georgia Straight columnist Martyn Brown have pointed out is completely illegal and unconstitutional.

It is another escalation in what some mainstream journalists including National Post's western business columnist Claudia Cattaneo have referred to as a 'civil war'

Sadly, Saskatchewan's Official Opposition NDP have also supportive of the project, and when asked to state his official position on the pipeline during Monday's Question Period by Minister Of Trade And Export Development Jeremy Harrison, new NDP Leaer Ryan Meili's response was that 'This is a pipeline that has been approved and should go forward. I’ve been very clear on that'.

Which leaves the Saskatchewan Green Party as the only viable option for pipeline opponents in the 2020 provincial election.
