In the discussion that ensued under my initial policy work call for participation, one of the needs that was expressed was more transparency in terms of the Media Co-op's decisionmaking process. Who makes decisions, when and where do they get the authority to do so?
Here at the Media Co-op, we recently procured a small grant to work on setting up standards and frameworks that set limits and make suggestions for how we behave while working in the Co-op, how we make decisions together, who makes which decisions, and so on.
In other words, we're working on policy.

We've been getting some requests from people interested in starting new locals, and I've been writing some long emails on the subject. It is time to share these thoughts more broadly.
The basic answer I give people is a bit nuanced, so I'll break it down into three parts:

This past week saw the largest crackdown on public protest in Canadian history, with approximately 1,000 people arrested in the streets of Toronto as they stood up against the G8 & G20.
