On the second day of the UN Climate Negotiations in Copenhagen, climate justice activists occupied a meeting of the House of Commons' Environment Committee, calling on Canada to adhere to its Kytoto Protocol targets and to stop production in the Alberta tar sands.

This past weekend marked the one year anniversary of the shooting of 15-year old Alexandros Grigoropoulos, killed by Athenian police. At the time, some 10,000 people took to the streets immediately, attacking banks, government offices and large corporations.
On May 11th, RoyalOr staked a claim to mine Mont-Royal, at the heart of Montreal, under Quebec's free entry mining laws. The video is from Françoise David's blog, one of the co-leaders of provincial political party Québec Solidaire. While posted by a politician, she does a great job breaking down the issues around free-entry mining in Quebec and how Canadian mining companies exploit communities and ressources internationally as well. we'll be posting a story on this event soon.
