Canadian filmmaker, John Greyson, and emergency room physician, Tarek Loubani, have informed friends and supporters through their Egyptian lawyers that they will be refusing food beginning September the 16th to protest the arbitrary nature of their detention by Egyptian authorities.
The Media Co-op is planning our 2013 AGM for Thursday, October 17 at 6pm (EST) in Montreal, with local meet-ups around the country. Members can participate via phone and online. More details on how to participate will be available shortly.
In the meantime, we invite the general membership of the Media Co-op to get engaged:
Fall back? Never. We're only moving forward. From transgender legal documentation in Quebec, to fighting for the preservation of Indigenous land in Saskatchewan, to bee-killing pesticides country-wide: Our contributors have been bringing and breaking grassroots news all summer long. To continue our coverage of un- and under-reported stories, we want your pitches.
We know they're out there: those stories, actions and ideas that are ignored by the corporate media but are shaping the world we live in. We want to share more of those stories, so we're looking for your news pitches!

On July 5th and 6th, I traveled from Montreal to Fort McMurray to participate in the fourth annual Healing Walk in the heart of tar sands country, on the rolling, hilly territory of the Fort McMurray First Nation. The Healing Walk isn't a protest.
